Scunthorpe join four-way tussle for released Ipswich striker

The Iron have reportedly joined Gillingham, Doncaster, Salford in the race to sign former Ipswich striker Jordan Roberts, according to the East Anglian Times.

Roberts’ two-year contract with the Tractor Boys ran out earlier in the summer, having initially been signed for the club by Paul Hurst, who was sacked by Scunthorpe in late January.

The forward spent time on loan with League One side Gillingham last season, and Gills manager Steve Evans hasn’t hidden his desire to sign Roberts on a permanent.

In terms of pecking order, the Iron will sadly place last of the four clubs interested. Salford are spunking cash for fun, and Gillingham and Donny can both offer League One football.

But, alas, it’s a rumour – and we’ve had f*ck all of them so far this summer.
