Russ Wilcox will return to his former role as the Scunthorpe under 23s manager ahead of the new season, with a new manager reportedly set to be in place by Monday.
There has been radio silence coming out of the Sands Venue Stadium for months, but that may all be about to change.
The longer time had gone on, the more likely it looked that Russ would remain in charge full time for the new season, rather than on a caretaker basis.
Sadly, no matter how much time passes, the ghost of Grimsby past at home has not gone – so the news that there will be a new gaffer in the hot seat for 2020/21 will be a welcome boost to the morales of the United faithful.
The news of some ‘rumblings’ happening at the SVS was broken this morning by BBC Humberside journalist Mike White, who posted the following:
The tweet was on the back of the club announcement that Lee Turnbull (Head of Recruitment) and Harry Jamieson (Head of Performance Analysis) have left.
Jamieson is understood to have taken up a similar role with a Championship club, whilst it is currently unknown as to the reasoning behind Turnbull’s departure.
With the players returning to training on Monday, and Mike White stating that there may well be a new manager in place before then (assuming talks go to plan), it could finally be an interesting couple of days for Scunthorpe.
One thing is for sure, anyone tempted by the betfred mobile bet odds on an Iron promotion will be holding out patiently whilst they wait and see who we appoint. The current odds, which suggest we will be at the right end of the table, are certainly not worth a sniff.
We will keep you in the loop with any further information that comes out on the website, or on our socials.
