Steve McClaren is not interested in having a discussion with Peter Swann about taking over as manager, as the Scunthorpe chairman looks to find a replacement for Graham Alexander.
On Monday Swann had claimed that he would be open to a conversation with McClaren, but no sooner than this was stated, the former England manager had channelled a message through Mirror journalist John Cross, dismissing any chance of said conversation coming to fruition.
According to the Mirror, McClaren is ‘preparing to bide his time before moving back into management’.
The news will come as a relief to a lot of United fans, who had not wanted the ‘wally with a brolly’ in any circumstances.
Steve Cotterill remains the bookies favourite at Tuesday lunchtime, but the chances of having a new gaffer in place before Friday’s game continue to get slimmer.
