Brian Laws has his contract teminated by Scunthorpe United

So at lunch time today Brian Laws was officially sacked as manager of Scunthorpe United. This followed a hugely disappointing run of games which included a 4-0 loss to York, a loss at home to Accrington last weekend and worst of all, a loss to our biggest rivals last night – Grimsby Town.

The way we have played our football in the last few weeks has been disgusting. It has been boring and predictable, and even a non-league manager out-thought ‘Our Brian’. And last nights loss to the Cods was the final straw for the majority of the Iron faithful, who turned on Lawsy demanding for his immediate removal.

We are waiting to hear the official statement later on which you would expect to be from Chairman Peter Swann. Once that has been made we can get a more clear view of his reasons, and his visions to take the Iron forward. It must be said that a lot of us doubted whether Mr. Swann had this in him, and he has answered those doubts!

Obviously our attention also turns to who will takeover the hot seat? Sky bet currently have Danny Wilson as their FAV for the job with odds of 5/1. A few other interesting odds are P.Beagrie 50/1, I.Baraclough 14/1, N.Warnock 25/1, K.Keegan 33/1, N.Barmby 10/1.

Who do you want to see takeover?

What’s left to say is I personally have never had anything against Brian Laws as a person. My opinion changed after watching some of the recent performances, otherwise I would have been happy to see him stay. But I just don’t see us moving forward under him, only backwards.

It’s time for a new era, a new manager with fresh ideas, fresh contacts, fresh tactics. But thank you Brian as you was very much a big part of one of the most exciting times in Scunthorpe’s history, but it was your time to go.

We won’t forget the good times.

Up the Iron.

You see where that might confuse people.
