Cox previews Morecambe trip with Eisa and Olomola both ruled out

The Iron head to Morecambe on Tuesday evening looking to win their first match since the 2-0 victory over Bradford on March 23.

Buoyed by a clean sheet and point against high-flying Tranmere on Saturday, United manager Neil Cox will be looking to cause a little upset against the Shrimpers, who have enjoyed a successful season, and currently sit in 5th position in League Two.

Despite sitting comfortably in the league table, the Shrimpers have lost two of their last three matches, drawing the other.

That has opened up a bit of opportunity to take advantage of the quite attractive odds of 15/4 on the Bovadas mobile platform for an Iron win.

Cox has revealed some team news ahead of the match, as he spoke to the club’s iFollow account:

“I thought Macca showed really good glimpses on Saturday and we want to get him another runout if his legs are alright.

“He played a long time and hasn’t played for a while, so we will have a look at him. We want to try and be more positive in the final third in creating chances. Kev took a lot of battering and bruising on Saturday, but he should be fit.

“Tafty got a bit of a whack, but got through the game. We’ve missed him with set plays and defended really well. It was good to see him come back after a bad injury and come through the game.”

Devarn Green picked up a little injury at Carlisle a week ago, and was withdrawn early, but Cox says he is fit enough to be back in the squad on Tuesday.

Despite that good news, United will be without Olufela Olomola and Abo Eisa, with the latter sitting out for a second consecutive match through illness.

“Dev Green comes back into the squad which is good. We will be missing Fela as his knee is a little bit sore again,” Cox claimed.

“Dev did the right thing after feeling his thigh and came off straight away. We got him some treatment straight away and he’s trained this week and has been fine.

“Eisa is still not well, the same as a couple of members of my staff. It’s a bit of a flu bug going around the camp, so we’re being even more careful than we have been. He will have another few days away from the building and hopefully he will be back in the building on Thursday or Friday to be ready for Saturday’s game.”
