Iron appoint former player Neil Cox as new manager

Scunthorpe have appointed former Watford captain Neil Cox to become their new first team Manager.

Cox, who started his illustrious career at the Iron, has come back to his home club 29-years after he initially left the club to further his career.

Leaving Notts County to jump from the fifth back into the fourth division is a challenge that he is certainly relishing and is excited for a new challenge in the football league.

Scunthorpe have taken a gamble, hiring a manager who is clearly fond of the club, and will have their best interests at heart, but is a gamble that’s going to pay off having just narrowly avoided relegation having finished the season on the PPG scheme.

Maximum Casinos, you can find them here, also give you the chance to take a gamble in what are arguably the best casinos not on Gamstop. Offering live casinos, the most popular slots on the market and various card games, which is always a popular choice for regular sports betting punters, once the season finishes.

Cox wants to capitalise and  prove his worth to the powers above that he is the right man for the job, he went on to say in an interview with the club’s website: “It’s the easiest decision I’ve ever made, when I left this club 29 years ago, it was the hardest one I’d ever made.”

He continues to say, “I didn’t really want to leave but I had no option. When I had the conversation with the chairman about what we want to do, I couldn’t wait to get here. I’m raring to go and have done my homework, picturing what we need to do and how to do it, but the welcome I’ve had so far has been brilliant.”

Although we are sure that Cox is buzzing to get in with the squad and for the season to get up and running again, he knows he’s in for a dogfight next season.

Scunthorpe struggled last year, and dramatically need to improve if they are wanting to push up the table next season. However, Cox has the capabilities to do that and certainly will have the backing of the board, it is just whether he’ll be able to get the squad firing on all cylinders.
