It’s been a little quiet since the Iron released their retained list on May 17, but that may all be about to change with the first rumour of pre season unveiled.
And that rumour is suggesting that former Iron favourite Andy Butler will return to the club he started his career at, this summer.
Butler had been offered new terms by Doncaster Rovers – who suffered play off heartache on Friday – but rejected the new deal in favour of ‘coming home’.
The Doncaster Free Press reported in the last hour of the new hours that Butler was to leave Rovers, having “accepted a deal at another club on improved terms with the intention of continuing his playing career for some time.”
The report from the Donny end was then backed up by Paul Crute of Scunthorpe Live, when he tweeted:
I’ve been told that Andy Butler moving to #Scunthorpe will be happening. Rejected a new deal at Donny and been told Iron have offered him better terms.

Will Butler be Scunthorpe’s first signing of the summer? We hope so.
