Striker Kyle Wootton is the deserved winner of the first Any Old Iron ‘Scunthorpe star of the weekend’, which will be a new weekly feature where a professional illustration is created to recognise the triumphant player.
The illustrations will be created by Kay Eggleston Design, who can be contacted if you want similar work via her Instagram page.
Wootton wins after his equaliser ensured United didn’t make it three losses to rivals Doncaster this season, when he rose like a salmon to cannon a header home from a Tony McMahon cross.
That goal isn’t the only reason Kyle wins, as he showed maturity in his performance to try and rally his teammates after an abject first half performance from the whole team.
Congratulations to @Kyle_Wootton_9 who wins the first #AnyOldIron ‘Star of the weekend’.
Another mature performance for someone who gets better and better every week. #OneOfOurOwn #UTI pic.twitter.com/Y6pDVyRWuM

Kyle’s leadership from the front helped us get a thoroughly decent result against a very good Doncaster side, and long may his form continue.
He’s one of our own.
