Iron midfielder Matty Lund will be missing for a minimum of six weeks after the club announced he is set to undergo clean-up surgery on his knee injury.
Lund has had a turbulent couple of months after it was revealed that he had a degenerative bone disease in late-December.
Despite many believing they had seen the last of Lund for a considerable amount of time, the midfielder returned to the bench at Walsall, even coming off the bench in the latter stages.
The news of the decision for Lund to have surgery came via a statement on the club’s official social media outlets:
⚽️ Manager Stuart McCall has confirmed to the press this lunchtime that Matthew Lund faces six weeks out after a mutual decision was made between himself, the player and medical team for Lund to undergo clean-up surgery on his knee injury. We wish Matty the very best with the op and the rehab that will follow, and look forward to seeing him back in action towards the end of the season.
