The Iron are believed to be on the verge of announcing the arrival of Adam Hammill and Tony McMahon, according to a report.
The news comes on the morning after the club announced the return of Dutchman Kevin van Veen.
Hammill had been on trial with the club during the summer, but at the time the Iron felt they had enough options in his position.
That meant the winger opted to sign a short-term deal until January with SPFL club St Mirren, where he has made 13 appearances, scoring four goals (including a spectacular effort on the half volley – see below).

But, United’s injury ravaged squad means there is now a spot for Hammill – and he looks set to put pen-to-paper today, according to journalist Alan Nixon:
In the same tweet, Nixon revealed that the Iron had also struck a deal with McMahon – who has been a long-term target for the club.
Graham Alexander had tried to sign the right back 12 months ago, but although a deal was rumoured to be close, it fell through.
The experienced defender has been with Oxford United this season, but prefers a move back north for ‘personal reasons’.
We will bring you more once it’s announced – it could be an exciting day.
