Scunthorpe are trying to line up a move for Millwall defender Byron Webster according to reports from the media in South London.
The Iron are actively on the hunt for players to improve their defensive line this January, and with Tony McMahon already confirmed – and Harrison McGahey all-but, the addition of Webster would just about sort any woes.
The report comes from The South London Press (SLP), who understand that Webster is ready for a move to League One, with his current deal with the Lions only running until the summer.
Byron Webster is set to sign for a League One club. But #Millwall will only give the green light to the deal once they have brought in a CB on loan – actively pursuing one at this moment. https://t.co/jEx0vQkhXy pic.twitter.com/zjH7FWUii4— Richard Cawley (@RichCawleySLP) January 3, 2019
Scunthorpe United are one of the clubs interested in Webster. Will be a very good signing at that level.— Richard Cawley (@RichCawleySLP) January 3, 2019
However, any movement for Webster would have to come after Millwall have found a suitable replacement – but Richard Cawley of SLP believes there is a chance of a replacement being brought in before the weekend.
Webster recovered from major knee surgery to appear for the Lions in pre-season, but has struggled to nudge Jake Cooper, Shaun Hutchinson and Murray Wallace from the starting 11.
Any movement on this and we will bring it straight to you. This one would make us at Any Old Iron a bit giddy.
