Scunthorpe are eyeing a move for experienced Sheffield United defender Jake Wright – but face a battle to secure his signature.
The news comes via the usually reliable transfer news source of HITC, whom claim as many as four League One clubs are considering a move – although the Iron and Fleetwood Town appear to be in the driving seat.
HITC state that any move for Wright would likely be a loan until the end of the season, with the 32-year-old under contract with the Blades for another 18 months.
Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers are both also believed to be interested, and may yet rival the Iron and the Cod Army for his signature.
The defender was a big part of the Blades side that won the League One title in the 2016/17 season, and would provide a very useful option for United in their disastrous defence.
Wright is the second centre half to be linked with a move to the Iron, after it was revealed that Harrison McGahey was at the top of Stuart McCall’s shopping list.
