Are Scunthorpe in line to get Rochdale’s McGahey through the door on Jan 1st?

The Iron have been subject to speculation linking them with Rochdale centre back Harrison McGahey in the last week – and a deal could be in place to see him move on January 1st.

Scunthorpe’s defensive errors have effected just about every single game so far this season, and have been the major reason as to why Stuart McCall’s men have slipped into League One’s trap door.

United chairman Peter Swann has not hidden away from his poor appointment of Nick Daws in the summer, and has admitted he is ready to spend whatever necessary on player recruitment in January, to ensure survival.

We were first linked with McGahey a week ago when Pete O’Rourke – a journalist who has frequently been the first to release correct information surrounding the Iron – tweeted:

Although O’Rourke has not followed the link up since the initial tweet, it’s been interesting to see that McGahey has been dropped to the bench for Rochdale’s last few games.

McGahey throughout the season thus far has been one of the first names on Keith Hill’s team-sheet, until December 8.

McCall will be keen to get new faces through the door early in the month – and there have been rumours of 2-3 joining on December 1st.

McGahey – of the linked names thus far – seems to be the most reliable, but of course, there’s plenty of time for things to go wrong. A little like this whole season.
