It’s not the news we wanted to hear – in fact, it’s going to be hard to refrain from swearing at our injury luck so far this season, but here we go – Ryan Colclough won’t feature for Scunthorpe again this season.
The talented winger – one of a very few bright sparks so far this season – suffered the injury in the 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers at the weekend.
There had been a worry that it would be a lengthy absence, even on the day of the injury.
But the news that it ends Colclough’s season extremely prematurely is a real kick in the b*llocks.
Iron manager Stuart McCall announced the news on Thursday afternoon:
Speaking to the media on Thursday lunchtime, Iron manager Stuart McCall has confirmed winger Ryan Colclough will be out for the rest of the season with a ruptured cruciate ligament.McCall said: “It’s a massive blow for himself & us because he’d started the season really well… pic.twitter.com/XkWZJSi32Q

…That’s the disappointing thing – we know injuries are part and parcel but when you get long-term ones it’s horrible. We all wish Ryan a strong recovery and hopefully once he’s back he’ll be back stronger and fitter than ever.”— Scunthorpe United FC (@SUFCOfficial) November 22, 2018
