Scunthorpe midfielder Matty Lund is looking forward to the chance to show old club Burton Albion what they’re missing this weekend, when the two club’s lock horns.
The midfielder left the Pirelli stadium this summer to join the Iron on a permanent deal, and after a fairly slow start, has established himself as a pivotal player in the middle of the pitch.
On the back of two successive victories, Lund feels the game against the Brewers provides his side with the perfect opportunity to build more momentum.
“It gives us a good chance of building the confidence,” Lund told Scunthorpe’s official iFollow account.
“(Burton’s) game was called off on Saturday so that also gives them time to rest up and get ready, but if we can go there with the right attitude and work hard, we know we’ll have a chance of getting something from the game.
“The work rate was brilliant again (at the weekend). Last Saturday (in the victory at AFC Wimbledon) we showed that as well.
“We needed to get those three points again, especially at home. It keeps that winning streak going. Hopefully we can do that again next weekend as well.”
The 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury at the weekend was significant in two cases, as it ensured a first clean sheet of the season – but more importantly, a first win at Glanford Park.
“Confidence is a huge thing, and if we can get the points at home that makes such a difference. We’ve shown a resilience, hard work and endeavour.
“We probably should have buried the game earlier, but everyone worked hard.
“We do work on set-pieces but Josh Morris’ delivery is spot on. He has a few assists now and it’s good for Novs (Lee Novak) to get on the score-sheet again.
“As a team it was very good. If we can carry that on in every game, it gives us the basis and go and get the win.”
