REPORT: Scunthorpe set to sign Rangers goalkeeper Alnwick on loan

The Iron are set to announce the signing of Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick on loan, according to a report on Tuesday afternoon.

The news comes from reliable source Pete O’Rourke, who announced that a deal had been struck between the two clubs on Football Insider 247.

Alnwick is the third-choice goalkeeper at Steven Gerrard’s Gers, behind Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham.

The ‘keeper has been looking to get away on loan to find first team football, and the unfortunate injury to Rory Watson on Saturday has paved a way for him to move to North Lincolnshire.

The length of the loan is not yet known, but will likely be a deal that sees Alnwick stay with the Iron until January at the very least – with Watson not due in training for around four months.

The signing would be new United manager Stuart McCall’s first since taking over on Monday.
