REPORT: Townsend heading to West Brom after Baggies fend off Hull & Ipswich

Scunthorpe United defender Conor Townsend has agreed terms with Championship side West Brom ahead of an imminent move.

Fellow United blog Iron Bru exclusively revealed that Scunthorpe had accepted a bid for the defender, and terms have been agreed.

Townsend is expected to be announced by the Baggies over the weekend, and will be a massive loss to the Iron and Nick Daws.

The news will come as a blow to Hull City and Ipswich Town, who both showed an interest in the left back’s signature.

Daws will now have an immensely difficult job on his hands finding a suitable replacement before the season starts.

Lewis Butroid will be expected to fill in at LB in the interim, but a new body in the building to cover that position has to come to fruition.

Good luck Conor, you’ve been a credit during your time at Glanford Park.
