Scunthorpe United midfielder Luke Williams may have already played his last game for the club, after it was confirmed he will be absent for the final four games.
The tricky winger made two brief appearances after returning from a long-term injury when we faced Rotherham and Oldham just over a month ago.
However, in a cruel twist, It was announced that Williams had suffered another injury during the Oldham game – which was feared to be season ending.
Williams and then Iron manager Graham Alexander claimed the 24-year-old may return to play the final games of the season, after the extent of the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared.
But that initial positive turn doesn’t seem to have panned out as expected.
BBC Humberside tweeted out the damning news for both Williams and the club earlier today – but there was no indication to say he will definitely be ruled out of the Play Off’s – should we make them – although considering his history of injuries, it’s fair to say we may have already seen the last of Williams.
Daws says Luke Williams’ latest hamstring problem isn’t as serious as first thought but will likely rule him out for the remaining 4 games of the season. #sufc— BBC Humberside Sport (@HumbersideSport) April 19, 2018
Williams’ current deal with United ends in June, and the terrible injury luck he has had during his time in North Lincolnshire would lead us to assume a new deal won’t be on the table.
