The Iron have made a bid in the region of £100,000 for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates, according to the Mirror Wednesday morning reports.
The teenager has impressed whilst on loan with Notts County this season, as the League Two side have risen to second, scoring six goals in the process.
Yates was one of the goalscorers during the Carabao Cup tie with United earlier on in the season.
County manager Kevin Nolan told the Nottingham Post recently that he was hopeful of holding on to the prospect: “It also helps the players that they are living close as they are not having to worry about hotels, travel and all that business.
“But fingers crossed they will still be here come February 1.
“Hopefully I won’t be having to dip into the market to try to replace them.
“Instead I hope it will be trying to add to their quality and keep us moving forward.”
Such is the quality of Yates, it is widely thought that £100,000 will be too low an offer, but should there be an update on this, we will inform you via our social media platforms.
