Fleetwood Town are leading the race to sign Paddy Madden in January, but other League One club’s are interested, according to reports.
Fellow Scunthorpe blog Iron Bru, and BBC Humberside journalist Matt Dean are the two sources who reported that the Cod Army are current favourites.
I’m also told that #Fleetwood are currently the front runners to sign him. https://t.co/G1gtlIxsYL— Matt Dean (@mattdeanradio) January 2, 2018

Madden has four goals in all competitions for United so far this season, and it has been widely expected that he would leave to try and find his goalscoring boots again.
One thing that is uncertain, is whether the Iron are loaning him out, or attempting to sell for a fee.
The 27-year-old is out-of-contract in the summer, meaning he would be free to find a new club.
During an interview with BBC Humberside before the game yesterday, Iron chairman Peter Swann admitted that he would listen to offers for the Irishman:
“Paddy will hopefully stick around with us and would never be surplus to requirements.
“He has been fantastic for us but hasn’t scored for a while which is not ideal for a striker.
“He is an important part of the football club but he is coming to the end of his contract so if a few offers come in we will consider them.”
It seems the end is nigh for Madden at Glanford Park, but should he leave, we at Any Old Iron would like to wish him all the best.
He’s been superb for us during his time here, and although it hasn’t worked out for him this season, we won’t forget the memories.
