Funso Ojo and Lee Novak set to miss MK Dons test

Scunthorpe manager Graham Alexander has revealed that Funso Ojo and Lee Novak will both be missing when MK Dons travel to Glanford Park on Saturday.

Ojo has been one of the season’s star players so far, whilst Novak has also made a good impression since signing from Charlton – meaning their continued absence will be a blow for Alexander.

The Iron gaffer did hint that Ojo may be fit to return the following Saturday, when United face Southend at Glanford Park.

However, he also confirmed that Novak is a few weeks away, meaning he will almost certainly miss the busy Christmas schedule.

“We haven’t had anyone return to training this week, unfortunately,” Alexander told the club’s iFollow account.

“The ones that we thought were close have plateaued out a little bit so they won’t be fit for the weekend.

“Lee Novak will still be out for a good few weeks yet.

“With Funso Ojo, he has been close but he has plateaued out. He hasn’t trained with us. I’m hopeful for him to be back for next week.

“Sam Mantom and Luke Williams will hopefully be back with us around Christmas and New Year. They are still on schedule, but Johnathon Margetts will be a lot longer.”

Alexander also praised Josh Morris, after the winger won the Sky Bet League One goal of the month award for November.

“I thought that goal was the best I’ve seen him score. Cutting inside on right foot, he had no right to attempt it from there.

“Even when he hit it, it seemed like it was going a few yards wide before it found a ridiculous bend to drop into the top right corner. It was an amazing strike.” he finished.
