Margetts suffers major injury setback

Iron striker Jonny Margetts has suffered another setback in his bid to recover from a knee injury, with the striker now unlikely to feature at all this season.

The forward went for an operation last week after the setback, but the repercussion’s of the surgery mean the recovery time will be in the region of four months.

“He is going to be out for four months minimum and then it is dependent on how it heals as to whether it will be any longer,” Alexander told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

“It is a blow to Jonno because he has been out for a while anyway but at least we have got to the bottom of the issue.

“He is on the road to rehab now and if he does his work right he will come back just as strong.

“Injuries for any player are inconvenient at any time but when you are trying to establish yourself at a club or in league football it is even more frustrating.

“The opportunity to showcase what he can do has been taken away from him.He knows what is ahead of him and we have got a good medical staff here.

“He will approach the work in the right way and he will get those opportunities when he comes back as fit as he can.”

The injury will come as a double blow to Margetts himself, as he finds himself out of contract at the end of the season with the Iron.

Will we see Margetts play in claret and blue again? It’s highly unlikely.
