The Iron recieved some nice praise from a footballing legend in Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, in the build up to Saturday’s FA Cup first round tie with his Cobblers side.
United travel to Northampton Town in the first of two visits within a short period of time, looking to progress into the second round without the need for a replay.
Hasselbaink has seen his team take seven points from a possible nine in the last three League One matches, which suggests it may be a bad time to face the Cobblers.
Despite our opponents good form, it’s worth noting the impressive turn in fortunes for ourselves, too.
The Northampton manager has certainly taken note, and is wary of the threats the Iron possess within their ranks.
“Scunthorpe have got quality, they are a very good team and they play good football,” said Hasselbaink.
“Individually, they have players who can hurt you, and it is going to be a real test.
“It will be a different test to Blackpool, because they play in a 4-4-2, so they play two strikers for the majority of the time, and they are very physical.
“But we are at home and we want to keep on going.
“We are building a bit of momentum at the moment, and can we keep building that? Can we not forget about the past three matches, but can we keep it in the back of our mind and keep on pushing?
“The mental aspect, and the professionalism is going to be very important, and that is what I will be looking at for the game.”
