The Iron defeated local rivals Doncaster Rovers 1-0 On Sunday afternoon at the Keepmoat Stadium, thanks to Lee Novak’s first strike for the club.
Novak’s 10th minute header from a Josh Morris corner was enough to give the Iron all three points in a tight affair.
United had to work extremely hard in the second half to ensure the victory, and eventually held on for yet another hard fought clean sheet; the fifth of the league campaign already for Graham Alexander’s men.
The latest three points have put Scunthorpe back into the Play Off spots – 6th – heading into a home clash with Portsmouth on Saturday.
Now, what you came for, here are Ryan’s player ratings from the game (on a basis of X out of 10):
Matt Gilks: 8
Another fantastic perfomance and well-deserved clean sheet for Gilks. Didn’t have too much to do but made some good saves when called upon – and as vocal as ever.
Jordan Clarke: 7 – Grew into the game and was fantastic defensively in his first game back after injury. Looked sharp and back to full fitness.
Rory McArdle: 7
Was comfortable on the ball and made some good tackles to limit Doncaster to only a few chances. Captain fantastic.
Murray Wallace: 8
Responded to everything that Doncaster threw at him. Showed tremendous composure through the whole game and was comfortable on the ball as usual.
Conor Townsend: 8
Another fantastic performance from Conor from start to finish, and he looked dangerous going forward, linking up well with Josh (Morris). A crucial part of the defence this season.
Duane Holmes: 6
Had a fairly quiet game yesterday and didn’t get into many threatening positions, but still picked out some good passes through towards the attackers and was always trying to make things happen swiftly when going forward.
STAR MAN
Neal Bishop: 9
It was a faultless performance from Bish. Made some crucial tackles and was well up for the local match with Doncaster. He also showed tireless energy; no one would have guessed that he was the oldest player on the pitch yesterday. Almost a perfect performance
Funso Ojo: 7
Reliable as ever, paired superbly well alongside Bishop in the middle of the park. The duo showed they have a good balance of attributes between them.

Josh Morris: 8
Had a fantastic game yesterday on the wing. He provided the assist for Novak’s goal and had a brilliant long range free kick which was tipped over the bar by the Rovers shot stopper.
Paddy Madden: 7
Worked tirelessly hard for the Iron and lead the line superbly. He also defended well from a couple of corners to prevent Donny from having a free header at goal.
Lee Novak: 8
Another tireless performance from an Iron player who linked up well with  Madden and also scored a fantastic header. He also cleared a goalbound header away in the first half which looked to have been heading in.
