Former-Iron manager Nigel Adkins has been drafted in as one of the bookies favourites for the vacant managerial positon at Birmingham City.
Birmingham sacked Harry Redknapp following Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Preston North End, after picking up only four points from their opening eight Championship matches.
The Blues have placed their Head Professional Development Coach Lee Carsley in caretaker charge, until a replacement for Redknapp is announced.
Adkins’ odds with SkyBet have dropped from 25/1 to 7/2 (as of 15:05) in the last 48 hours, with only two names shorter value at the moment.
Those two names are former-Middlesborough manager Aitor Karanka (7/4), and caretaker manager Carsley (5/2).
Adkins struggled to replicate the managerial success he had with the Iron and Southampton during his most recent stints in charge of Reading and Sheffield United, but Birmingham City would be a superb place for the favouite amongst Iron fans to re-start his managerial career.
