Deadline day signing Lee Novak felt his side were worthy of at least a point on Tuesday night, when Blackburn Rovers took the spoils at Glanford Park.
United were dominant over their opponents in almost every department, but Levi Sutton’s unfortunate slip in the 58th minute meant Marcus Antonsson could volley home the only goal of the game.
Having impressed in two substitute appearances prior to Tuesday, Novak was awarded a first start for his new club by Graham Alexander.
Talking to Scunthorpe United’s iFollow account after the game, Novak said: “Overall a point would have probably been a fair result.
“We’ve had a couple of chances and one of the lads thought my goal was onside, so it’s disappointing and we’ll have to have a look back.
“I think Blackburn are the biggest side in the league. You can see that with the players they’ve got and the support they brought.
“We have got to take the positives and move onto Sunday now.”
Discussing his first start, Novak mentioned how he was disappointed not to mark the feat with a win, but was already looking forward to Sunday’s big derby match at Doncaster Rovers.
“I would have liked to have won the game on my first start and have got a goal, but it hasn’t happened, so we’ll hopefully win the next one on Sunday.
“We’ve got four great strikers here. Whoever plays, it’s their chance to stake their claim. Hopefully I staked my claim on Tuesday and I can get a run in the team.”
