BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Ryan Middleton previews Iron v Blackburn

The Iron will be looking to build on Saturday’s point at home to Blackpool, heading into their midweek encounter with Blackburn Rovers at Glanford Park on Tuesday.

The away side will be full of confidence after three league wins on the bounce.

The bookies are predicting a tight affair between the two sides and I personally believe that too.

Only one league side, along with Scunthorpe, still have a proud unbeaten record in the league so far this campaign; early season table toppers Shrewsbury Town.

It is also worth noting that the Iron haven’t conceded a single league goal in over 400 minutes of football, and Blackburn have scored seven goals in their last two league games – so something has to give.

United currently sit 5th in the table with 12 points, three points ahead of tonight’s opponents with an game extra played.

I expect the game to be open and entertaining, as both sides will be desperately going for all three points.

Big things are anticipated for both Scunthorpe and Blackburn this season, and both will believe they have realistic chances of promotion too.

A win for either team on Tuesday night will be a huge confidence booster for the side victorious. It is one of them early season games which can swing a season in a positive or negative way for either team.

Everyone who knows League One, knows how unpredictable it can be, and we are already seeing signs of that in many games so far. This league is always full of twists and turns throughout a very long nine months.

Injury update
Murray Wallace picked up a dead leg in the first half on Saturday but Graham Alexander is hopeful that he will be fine to play tonight.

Graham also confirmed that Andrew Crofts picked up an ankle injury in training last Tuesday and is expected to be missing for the next two or three weeks.

Apart from that, there are no fresh injury concerns to worry about going into tonight’s encounter.

My score prediction
Iron 1-1 Rovers .

My Expected line up
Gilks, Clarke, McArdle, Wallace, Townsend, Adelakun, Bishop, Ojo, Morris, Madden, Hopper.
