Scunthorpe United have offered a contract to former-Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Jose Semedo, according to reports.
The Portuguese player’s contract at Wednesday ran out this summer, and HITC are reporting that he has already received an offer from Primeira Liga club, Vitória F.C.
Despite the contract in his native Portugal, it is understood that Semedo is keen to remain in England, which has put various clubs on high alert.
Most important, if HITC are to be believed, ourselves and Bury are two of the clubs to have offered the 32-year-old a deal.
Chesterfield are another club touted to be in the running, but the League Two side would likely be one step too far down the football pyramid for Semedo.
It is well-known that Semedo is close friends with one of the most high-profile players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, and it is believed that the pair have spent the summer training together ahead of the new campaign.
