Iron fans checking social media this morning will have been quite surprised to see the club linked with Rangers striker, Martyn Waghorn.
The news actually broke late last night, when the Scottish Sun revealed their insight in a Tweet linking to an article posted on their site, which claimed that Graham Alexander was at the Ibrox for Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen, a game Waghorn did find the net in.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsWaghorn boasts an impressive record north of the border, having scored 44 times in the last two seasons – 16 of those goals came in the current season, as Rangers have competed in their first campaign back in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite that, BBC Radio Humberside reporter, Mike White, has dismissed the rumours, in the following tweet:
Scunthorpe United club source tells me they’ve not spoken to Martyn Waghorn & “not on their list” amid reported interest in Rangers striker.— Mike White (@mikewhitesport) May 20, 2017
The Scottish Sun will have had a decent enough source to run the piece, so something could still happen, but it would seem more likely that the Iron manager was up there to seek out the possibility of bringing Matt Crooks back to the club, after his impressive loan spell towards the latter end of last season.
We will bring you more if there are any follow ups to this story, or to the possibility of Matt Crooks returning to the club.
