TRANSFER DEADLINE COUNTDOWN: Jack King on his way to Stevenage

During the first half of last season Jack King found himself as one of the most regular players in the Iron squad, but as the second half began to show a player who was becoming more and more out of favour, with substitute appearances more frequent.

Under Graham Alexander, King has only really featured as a sub, and at 31-years-old the former-PNE man needs first team football – That is why the move can only be of benefit to both player and club.

According to BBC Humberside sport, it is League Two’s Stevenage who are interested in taking King on loan. The duration of the loan is as of yet unknown, but the move can only be welcomed by a player who was the vice-Captain for the club last season. (And Captain to long periods due to Stephen Dawson’s injury at the start of the season).

King’s desire and determination has never been in doubt, and his versatility is always a welcome member of any squad – But he has found himself even further down the pecking order in his favoured position of central midfield, due to the addition of Sam Mantom at the beginning of the summer.

Iron manager Graham Alexander mentioned the possibility of two more signings before tomorrow’s 11.30pm deadline, and with one CM seemingly on his way out, that opens the door for another to come in – even more so if the Jamie Ness to Aberdeen rumours has any legs on it.

Although things have gone really quiet on our interest in Sam Morsy, Alexander has never directly denied our interest, and certainly if Ness moves you could see that move being much more likely, but we will just have to wait and see what the next 48 hours bring.

BETTING: If you check on the sports news & betting tips the Iron are currently the fourth favourites for the League One title – a big improvement on our odds before the season, and not bad considering Saturday’s disappointing loss to Port Vale.

If any outgoings or incomings are announced, they will be added to the article below.

UPDATE: As expected, Kingy’s move to Stevenage was confirmed. He joins the League Two side on loan until January, and played all 90 minutes in their Checkatrade Trophy game on Tuesday night.
