The Iron got their Pre-season off to a decent start with a 1-0 victory over Irish side Bray Wanderers. A single goal in the second half from that man ANDY BARCHAM (Who else?) was enough to make it 1 out of 1 in terms of Pre-season friendly games.
It is a game that a few friends of mine went to (Including Any Old Iron writer Max Bell) and apparently there was around 30 odd Iron fans there. Not bad considering really.
From the match reviews I have read, this is a game the Iron should have won a little more comfortably than the score line suggests, but still, a win is a win. Some say Pre-season matches won’t affect how the team starts the season in the league, but if you play and win all of them then there will obviously be some psychological effects taken from these victories that DEFINITELY CAN be taking into the season. What I am trying to say is keep winning lads!
Tonight the Iron face Wayside Celtic who are probably the Irish equivalent to Brigg town. Now you’d expect the Iron to win comprehensively, and personally I think this will be the case. Niall Canavan has been passed fit to play the CB role but Mozzy (Mozika) will miss out with an ankle injury.
I really hope to see 2 men on the score sheet tonight more than anyone else:- Mike Grella & Connor Jennings.
