As a very mediocre season draws to a close with only 3 games remaining, Scunthorpe United find themselves travelling to a team sitting 5th in League 1 despite being on relegation form (based on their last 5 games that is). When the sides met in late October the Terriers were 39 games unbeaten (A distant memory for them now as since this record was lost they have been fairly average) and had Jordan Rhodes firing in more goals than the whole of our squad put together (near enough ;)). Oh and they also had some old bloke in goal who doesn’t like conceding penalties funnily enough! Since then Jordan Rhodes has calmed down a little and although still scoring a lot, he isn’t scoring 5 a game anymore! They have gotten rid of Lee Clark as manager and brought in the sacked Leeds United manager Simon Grayson, who I thought would be a great replacement, however, this has not really been the case as they have won only 5 times since he took over from 13 matches, which for a team who I had down as certainties to go up automatically this season, isn’t good enough, and I know a few Huddersfield fans who are fed up as this season looks like another Play-off campaign, which as you will know they reached the final of last year only to be turned over by Peterborough including a classy Grant McCann free-kick.
I personally don’t mind Huddersfield as I have a few mates who are fans of the club, and who I might say kept their feet firmly on the ground despite their fantastic form at the start of the season, which sadly the same can’t be said for the 2 ‘MASSIVE’ Sheffield Clubs of late (You are both so massive that you are in League 1).
After last weeks embarrassing performance against MK Dons, although they were a very good team, we need to take advantage of having the likes of McAleny and the Beast returning to the squad and put that loss to the back of our minds. Huddersfield is never going to be an easy place to go and play, but I really do think we stand a solid chance.
