Despite the disappointment of having somehow lost to Notts County on Saturday – Iron manager Alan Knill has revealed that he’s expecting an almost fully-fit squad for the Iron’s next game.
And since we’ve been knocked out of the FA Cup – that is going to be the home clash against Carlisle United on Saturday December 10th.
This obviously exclues the long-term injury to Josh Lillis unfortunately, as it has not yet been revealed as to when the Iron expect the YT graduate to be fit and back in action following his serious rib-injury suffered at home to Colchester back at the start of September.
But it will mean however – that both Jimmy Ryan and Damien Mozika are expected to be back from their respective injuries – and in contention for a place in the starting XI.
This is especially welcome considering the fact that Scunny’s bench against Notts County consisted of 3 strikers, a keeper, and a defender who’d previously made zero league appearances.
So with Oliver Norwood now also out suspended for 3 games – the duo’s return, also hopefully alongside that of Sam Togwell, will be extremely well timed and welcome for the Iron.
With both Jimmy & Damien having taken part in training in significant terms throughout the week – and with over another week for both midfielders to continue their rehabilitation and recovery, it is all but guaranteed that they’ll both be back for the Carlisle game.
Of course remembering the fact that we had to push Nolan into midfield and Palmer on at LB. We all know how that ended….
Also – both Bryne & Robertson, both playing for the first time since their respective horror injuries, (Byrne has been out for nearly a year!), have come through unscathed.
With Byrne seemingly back to his best, with the armband and heart on his sleeve – his influence there for all to see over the 90 minutes: this is particularly welcome for all concerned.
So with Alan Knill hailing Cliffy as a “true man” – it’s clear that Knilly values the club captain as highly as the rest of us. And having him back, just like the rest of them – really is as much as a massive boost as he was proclaiming thankfully.
So let’s just be hoping that with all the injured outfield players back, and more importantly – back to their best: that the Iron can turn Saturday’s good performance, into a good win. Because it’s the latter that will take us up the league, not the former….
